I SHALL OVERCOME THROUGH GOD

victorious on a log

My days of being negatively labeled are gone
my lack of self worth is no longer
for I am turning my sights unto God
and his indwelling spirit is making me stronger!

I go to his house of worship
in praise I give him my song
for he shall wipe away all my old labels
and everything in my life that's gone wrong!

Through him I am a new person
I shall overcome the labels that gave me despair
Negative labels shall never own me
Because I am sheltered within Gods loving care!

COLOSSIANS 3:9-10
9Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.

LET ME TELL YOU OF MY FRIEND JESUS

jesus
Let me tell you of Jesus
Our savior sent to show us Gods way
Tho he lived many years ago
His words are still true today.

Can I tell you of Jesus?
He was Gods one and only son
A lamb that God sent down to us
Gods perfect chosen one.

This is my Jesus my savior
his love it was so great
that he would sacrifice his life
that we might have a brighter fate.

My friend and savior called Jesus
gave up his life in the end
A greater love hath no man
that he lay down his life for a friend!

John 15:13
13Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.

HOPE IS FOR THE BELIEVER

Jesus
Hope is for gods children
It's given to us with love
from our heavenly father
that lights our way from up above

Hope is the fulfillment of Gods promise
that we should not lose sight
there is so much more in store for us
beyond this world of death and night

Whatever failure we may know
Gods power we can employ
then he will send us all we need
in his spirit of peace and joy!

The believer's hope is strong
for there is glory beyond the grave
hope shall carry the faithful
because of the promise Jesus gave!

That he shall come again
and each soul shall begin anew
Oh what a glorious day that will be
when he comes for me and you!

JER 17:7
"But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence
is in him.

A FRIEND FOR JESUS

Walking away from it all

Would you be a friend to Jesus
no other friend will do
for he is the one who is always there
Call upon his name and he will answer you!

They tried my lord and savior
with no one to defend
Within the streets of Jerusalem
he stood without a friend!

This world may turn against him
but I will love him to the end
and while on this old earth I am living
my Savior will have a friend!

When the earthly friends forsake you
and tell you they are through
remember there is one who loves you
and will always love you too!

Find a friend in Jesus
your life for him do spend
then take that walk with Jesus
Until your years shall end!

MAT 25:21
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You
have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many
things. Come and share your master's happiness!'

JOY FROM JESUS IS OUR JOY

white happy Jesus

There is a road that leads to Joy
its a hard road we must take
Its cost for Jesus was the cross
It is our cross too we must not forsake.

The joy set before Jesus had many levels,
first was the joy to be in his fathers sight.
Next was purification for others sins,
And divine rights restored in heavens light.

But did Jesus die and leave us behind?
No, he made the connection for us to rejoice!
That his joy be in us, that our joy may be full
If we only listen to his voice!

If others persecute and condemn you
or should you suffer in his name sake
rejoice and be glad for his joy empowers
and your reward in heaven will be great!

If Jesus had not died willingly
then he nor we could be forever glad
For his joy and ours was sealed on the cross
Now in him we can never be sad!

Now that our sins are reckoned before God
for through his love we shall endure
though sorrow comes by night, joy comes in the morn
Of that joyfully we can be sure!

JOH 15:11
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your
joy may be complete.
16:20 I tell you the truth, you will weep and mourn while the world
rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.

Making love

Last night the scent of perfume filled the air
As my fingers slowly slid through her golden hair
I felt every curve down to her hips
As our bodies embrace I taste her sweet lips

She's my piece of heaven from her head to her toes
Her sexy little way gives me such sweet repose
I wait and watch in pure delight
As her sihouette flows in the dim candle light

She's the dream that came true, to her I shall give
A total commitment every day that I live
She's my lover and my soul mate for life
I thank God everyday for my beautiful wife!

PSA 16:6
The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely
I have a delightful inheritance.

WE ARE GODS VIOLIN

angel with violin
Without the maestro the violin sits silent in a corner alone
the strings broke the wood slightly distressed
Dust and cobwebs covering its ornate beauty
to the eye it is lonely and oppressed

The maestro carefully repairs and polishes it
then with his bow he rubs on its string
A new sound comes from this old violin
And what a beautiful song it can sing!

That same instrument not played by the maestro
can bring forth unbelievable discord!
If not played with his love and discipline
harmony and beauty will never be the reward!

You see man is much like the old violin
as our strings are played everyday
We must practice love and discipline
Only Gods word can show us the way!

Because God is our maestro in life
as each broken string he seeks to repair
each time your life falls slightly off key
I promise the maestro will be there!

With a gentle hand he will repair you too
bringing forth great beauty and harmony
then he will play you with all his love
Oh what a beautiful song that will be!

ECC 2:24
A man can do nothing better than to eat and drink and find
satisfaction in his work. This too, I see, is from the hand of God,

NEVER ALONE WITH GOD AS MY FRIEND

alone in a crowd

There's time when I feel so very alone
Even though I am in a crowd
I know that God is with me
like the sun just beyond the cloud.

He always stands right by my side
his loving presence always surrounds me
I am protected by his blessings
in times of trouble he will not flee!

In God I have a friend
A friend who's love never forsakes
A friend that's supportive and patient
Always giving more than he takes!

HEB 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with
what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I
forsake you."

AS SEASONS CHANGE finding hope in each new season

snow flower

Summer is slowly ending
The winter soon will be
then all our summer joys
will be just a memory.

As the seasons change
We are changing too
cool fall nights prepare the land
for winters darkened hew.

Every season that came before
can be seen in each face we see
for time cannot be held
and will never let us be

As seasons change outside
our lives are changing too
yet with every season
life begins anew!

Our life is a journey
each season our stepping stone
through birth to growing old
we embrace each new unknown

With the promise of each new season
we find confidence and hope
With Gods wisdom and guidance
We shall find the strength to cope!

Proverbs 4:26
Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.

THE GREAT REDEEMER

jesus

Great redeemer sent from God
A sinless life to live
Showing such wondrous works
and so many miracles to give!

Thy blood that was shed upon the cross
What a sacrifice thee made
For sinners to see redemption
OH what a price thee paid!

Great teacher as none other
Oh healer we call to thee
For no greater man shall walk this earth
No greater wisdom shall we see!

Taught by thy great example
impeccable in time and space,
Yet only through thy sacrifice
Shall man receive Gods grace!....thank-you Jesus!

HEB 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact
representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand
of the Majesty in heaven.

THE BIBLE

BIBLE

There is no place to step inside
like the inside of a book to go and hide
It can transport you to another place
Another time or another space

It can banish your worries, give you wings to fly
A book can lift your spirits high!
You can learn of things in history
You can study science or psychology!

It can give you insight about fashion or art
A book always gives you a place to start.
It can boggle your mind with a mystery
It can open your heart and mind to see!

There is one book to none other compare
It is full of inspiration, and beauty to share
It brings hope and fulfillment to those who are lost
It is the story of salvation and salvations cost!

No other book like it on the shelf will you find
A book that can reach all, not one soul left behind!
A book that brings hope to each troubled mind
A book that brings peace, when you need to unwind!

A book of the truth, what is, and is yet to be
It is our guide to eternity!
Gods word in the pages, offering wisdom and sight
Devine is this book that leads to Gods light!

Rev 21:27
Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is
shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's
book of life.
22:19
And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will
take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city,
which are described in this book.

GODS PERFECT SON a poem about Jesus by Carrie Neighbors

jesus

God gave to us his perfect son
to save and heal the lost
Oh what a perfect gift of love
That he would pay so high a cost!

In Christ lived God in human form
He was Gods chosen one
Not just another man on earth
He was Gods only son!

Humble and contrite in spirit
Obedient even unto death
never faltering from his love for us
even with his final breath!

Atonement through his sacrifice
his blood shed at calvary
through Gods perfect son
he gave himself to you and me!

MATHEW 20:28
just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,
and to give his life as a ransom for many."

A SOLUTION TO YOUR PROBLEMS

business man
Has the stress of life got you down?
Are you swept away, by the roles that you play?
Are lost in a myriad of duties, with no sign of relief?
Perhaps you need a solution today!

But where do you look for the solutions?
Are there true answers lingering out yonder?
Perhaps the answer is not out there,
Perhaps "here" is the answer to ponder!

That answer that you have been looking for,
Was inside your soul all along,
Where God is dwelling inside of you
Seeking your burdens to carry, making you strong!

You ask "how might I acquire such a beautiful gift?"
How can I know the answers are true?
How can I find this God with the answers
And let him guide me in all that I do?

God waits for you to come into his presence
Come into his house of worship and pray
Come listen and meditate upon his word
And God will help you find solutions today!

ECC 1:14
I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of
them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

DEATH TOOK ME AWAY a poem about being caught by death off guard!

grave

I had no time for death,
My life was just too busy
Then most unexpectedly
Death made time for ME!

They placed me in this lovely box
with Gold and silver cast
A so called resting place
where all I have is past!

I wondered what God was doing
Was he just too busy to see?
Perhaps he was just too busy to notice
that death had noticed me!

They placed me in the hearst
It had no luggage rack!
I guess that means that how I came
Is how I'm going back!

Death took away my life
My money and my worth
I stored no heavenly treasures
while I walked upon this earth.

So dear ones take my advice
I've been down this path you trod
Don't let death make time for you
Till you make some time for GOD!

ECC 2:14
The wise man has eyes in his head, while the fool walks in the
darkness; but I came to realize that the same fate overtakes them both

PEACE FROM GOD DURING SORROW a poem for peace during sorrow and grief by Carrie Neighbors

Above the howling wind there is calmness to the air
Stilling the storms of sin Our prince is standing there!

Giving peace and rest to the troubled mind
For within Jesus Peace is what you'll find!

In the midst of the storm and all our discontent
Our prince of peace will come As a gift that's heaven sent.

For peace is not the absence of pain
But in the storms of life, Gods love shall sustain!

When loved ones die and leave the world behind
Billows of love from heaven is truly what you'll find

Peace, peace sent unto a broken heart to mend
In sorrows chilling storm, a gift of peace he'll send

Tragedy turns to triumph, sorrows into song
Peace shall come to the weeping in the reality of wrong

Grasping for words transforming, inadequate to define
Peace beyond our understanding, forever yours and mine!

LUKE 1:79
shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death,
to guide our feet into the path of peace."

WALKING WITH JESUS a song of hope by Carrie Neighbors

sadness
chorus;
Tho the way is sometimes lonely
Jesus holds me with his hand
Tho the sky is sometimes cloudy
Oh someday I'll understand

When I leave this world of sorrow
When I say my last goodbye
I will meet my loving savior
In my home beyond the sky

Yes we'll learn to walk with Jesus
Close by his side,
When life gets dark around us
in him we must abide.

So in this world You'll never find
Peace and joy for the troubled mind
Come to Christ, on him believe
Then Peace and joy you will receive.

Then meet me ov'r yonder, where there are no sad farewells
Where we'll all sing together, when they ring those golden bells.

final chorus:
Tho the way is sometimes lonely Jesus holds me with his hand
Tho the sky is sometimes cloudy oh someday I'll understand!

THE GAP THAT FILLS MY LIFE a poem prayer about grief by Carrie Neighbors

willow grieving

There is a gap that fills my life,
My heart consumed with pain
I feel the sun has faded forever
And left me in the rain.

There is no greater loss,
than what I feel right now
Yet I must go on
I must find new strength somehow.

Lord I have to worry
Did my loved one walk with you?
Did he call upon your name
Did I do all that I could do?

Will I meet him up in heaven?
Will I hug him at the gate?
Did he get to heavens gate?
Did you tell him its too late?

I know I am probably silly
To worry as I do,
You give me such a comfort
With the assurance I have in you.

You give me glimmers of sunshine
Through my pouring rain
And you send me blessed assurance
In your words that shall sustain.

I am leaning on you Lord;
as my grief I must work through
For Joy, warmth and healing
Are all a part of you!

That gap that fills my life
Is yours in heavens light to shine
Only now I can understand
He was never truly mine!

JOB 32:8
But it is the spirit in a man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives
him understanding.

MY FINAL WISH, a poem about organ donation by carrie neighbors

reaching

When life for me has ended
and Gods angels call me home
the choice you will make for me
Should not be made alone.

So I pray you will take my sins
and to the Devil give
Then take my heart, and any part
that another life may live!

Take my soul and my good deeds
For to God I give my best,
Then into the earth my empty shell
Is all you will lay to rest.

I pray the memories and smiles
we shared will still live on
And let me stay in your heart
though in body I will be gone.

Do these things I have asked of you
Yourself you should doubt never
Then know that I will rest in peace
While I live with God forever!

LET JESUS SET YOU FREE by Carrie Neighbors

You may claim total independance
Never a slave to be
but you were bought with a price
and sin will not set you free.

But freedom can come from Jesus
Because the truth can set you free
Everyone is a slave to something
For you what could that be?

Remain in the bondage of this world
for the Devil wants you there
or reach to God through Jesus
Giving him all your burdens in prayer!

From the ashes of sin Christ suffered and died
he paid the price that we shall be free
Never again be slaves to our sin
For through Christ we are free indeed!

IN MEMORY OF MY COUSIN BECKY a poem by carrie neighbors

Though your work on earth is done
Now in Heaven your life's just begun,
All your loved ones there you'll see
No more pain or woe you'll know
For there it shall forgotten be!

Now sing and dance in endless praise
In Heavens glorious unceasing days
Rejoicing with Jesus face to face
Surrounded by his loving grace!

On earth we still can't surmise
Oh the greatness of surprise
For God has called you as his own
Forever there, his joy to share,
beneath his glorious throne!

The way was rough, Gods grace enough
to soften every fall,
For he was there, each tear to share
Not just one but all!

Becky you were loved so much
By every life your heart could touch
Your children now reflect your worth
Of your legacy on earth
Every heart today is stirred
becuase your life on earth occurred!

Since your birth, God knew your worth
then he saw you needed rest
He proved when he took you home with him
He only takes the best!

Written in memory of my cousin becky, a beautiful person taken from us too soon.

RULES FOR DAILY LIFE WITH GOD inspirational poem by Carrie Neighbors

Praying

Begin the day with God,
Kneel down to him in prayer
Lift up thy heart to his abode
And seek his love to share.

Open the book of God
And read a portion there
That it may hallow all thy thoughts
And sweeten every care.

Go through the day with God
Thy sins to him confess,
Trust in the Lords atoning blood
then plead his rightousness!

Lie down at night with God
Who gives his servants sleep
And when thou tread'st the vale of death
he will thee guard and keep.

WHEN A LOVED LEAVES THE WORLD BEHIND a sympathy poem

When a loved one leaves this world behind
There is a void thats so unkind!
walking alone

We yearn to hear their voice
We long to have them back
We miss the love we shared
And true courage we may lack.

But we must join the living now
for we are needed there
As we must trust our loved one
to Gods tender loving care.

He will safely keep them
in a place out of our sight
Until we are together again
In Gods eternal light!

BAPTISE ME NOW! A poem about getting baptised

baptised

If you believe in Jesus
You shall live eternally
He bore our sins in his body
when they nailed him to the tree!

Yes his death is our death
united as one he died for all men
So place me down in the water
that I too might be raised again!

My grave symbalized by the water
For death is my enemy
Because our Lord has risen
He shall do the same for me!

John 3:5
Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of
God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

You were my Angel

So wonderful was each day,
that I could spend with you
You made my world a better place,
My angel through and through.

Your suffering I know was great,
And yet you struggled to go on,
Still I sit here lost,
not believing that your gone!

Your eyes they just grew tired,
you heard God whisper low
"Come with me to heaven now,
then it came your time to go"

Sadness fills my borken heart,
my eyes fill up with tears,
I wish that I could bring you back,
to walk with me through out the years!

But bringing you back wasn't meant to be,
and wishing wont make it come true
So I only hope God appreciates,
the great Angel he got in you!

Above the grief

rose
To the heavens my eyes gaze up
Heavy as a flower in the rain
Though sorrow now has filled by cup
Only time can ease my pain.

Just as the flower above the leaf
Leaves all the thorns below
To rise above the thorns of grief
It takes some time to grow.

PLACE YOUR TREASURES IN GODS HANDS

Photobucket

There are many treasures upon this earth

We shall intently hold on to

But the treasures we take to heaven

Are rare and very few.

Place in Gods hands thy most cherished treasures

Guarding them close to your heart

Give unto God, what to God is due

Far from him shall thee never depart.

For someday everything we have held will be gone

Only then shall we understand

The only treasure we can take with us

Is what was placed in Gods unchanging hand.

BY carrie neighbors.

when God sends US AN ANGEL

WHEN GOD SENDS US AN ANGEL
Photobucket

An Angel guides us when we are lost, our fears they duly ward

They take us safely under their wing, Yet on earth they reap no reward.

Angels follow us and keep us safe, Our connection to heaven above

Doing their good to show us, the abundance of Gods love.

Sometimes when we pray for a miracle, we focus on what has gone wrong

When all the while God has already sent, His angel to help us along!

In this dark and lonely world, To God we can give our fears in prayer,

Then accept the miracle he sends down, of the angel thats unaware!

In the form of a child or a stranger, Perhaps in the hand of a friend

A prayer to heaven for guidance and strength, Perhaps an angel is what god will send!

So rest assured in this world unkind, at your side you may have a guest,

An angel that follows one step behind, For through her you shall know you are blessed!

BY CARRIE NEIGHBORS

Written in memory of my 10 year old sister that died. An Angel that left her wings behind to come to earth for just a short while to bless our lives

THIS LIFE OF MINE BELONGS TO THEE

THIS LIFE OF MINE

THis life of mine can nothing be,

If I don't give it Lord to thee,

For only thou can see ahead,

How rough the way that I must tread.

And only thou, new life can give

When I lord have lost my will to live!

When hope has died and dreams have fled

When o'er the wreck my tears are shed

Take it lord this life of mine

And fill it with thy love devine,

For only thou can know the way

That leads me to eternal day.

jUDGE NOT TILL YOU TAKE A LOOK AT YOURSELF

JUDGE NOT!---by Carrie Neighbors

iF you are criticizing others finding fault in someone else,
You might be blaming another for what you'd do yourself,

Sit down and think it over, I am sure you will find
Its not the other fellow, the trouble is yours & mine.

We need so often in this life a balancing of scales
To see how much within us wins, and how much fails

Instead of watching others, judging their faults & sins
Let us take a look at ourselves that is where it all begins

Jesus wants us to be more kind, to follow the plan he laid
To be more understanding of the ones that are delayed

So Before you Judge another, just lay him on the shelf,
It would be a splendid plan to take walk around yourself.

MATTHEW 7:1-5:
"Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again"

WHERE DO WE TURN WHEN OUR WORLD FALLS APART?

WHERE DO WE TURN WHEN OUR WORLD FALLS APART?

Hush God is speaking,
Do you hear his words whispered in the midst of the storm?
In the shadows of death and sorrow
A vail of assurance shall form

Although we accept it
Deaths ramifications shall impact us unaware
A soft voice is calling out,
from the depths of despair!

Jesus is that voice,
He knew great sorrow when Lazarus died,
Its one of the few times ever documented,
That even Jesus cried.

Where do you turn,
when your world falls apart?
Whose voice do you listen to
from within a broken heart?

How shall we find courage
when reality is setting in?
Because of the Lords resurrection
We SHALL see our loved ones again!

Life is but a veil,
that soon will be lifted High
Then we shall see forever,
in that sweet by and by!

For within Jesus is not speculation
Only certainty
Reality that our risen Lord
Has opened the door to eternity!

That life is our abundantly
on this journey in life we share,
Giving us his grace
and his love beyond compare!

By Carrie Neighbors.

2 TI 1:12
That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because
I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what
I have entrusted to him for that day.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD

wheelchair

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE--By Carrie Neighbors.

With the one that hangs the rainbow above a cloudy sky
All things are possible, we need not question why.
You are given a treasure, more precious than gold
Its your own precious life to have and to hold.

Each person's responsible to live and love his own life
Its not always fair in this worlds trouble and strife.
You may be physically challenged, unhealth or poor,
But your treasure is life, and God loves you more!

Limitations of man that are put upon you
Are only external and should not make you blue.
God knows whats inside and loves who you are,
You are Gods child, his bright shinning star.

No matter how many inequities you may have to endure
You are exactly the way God made you, that is for sure!
Within God are the answers they justify,
Beyond our knowledge of knowing why.

He has the answers, solutions, and plan for the life you live
Trust in his divine intervention, his steadfast miracles he'll gladly give.

EXCEEDING aboundantly Gods gifts you'll receive,
ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE THROUGH GOD, FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE!

Matthew 19:26
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible."

REMEMBER ME ON MEMORIAL DAY. a soldiers poem

REMEMBER ME

Remember me on this Memorial Day

Remember the way I was before I went away

My country in trouble I heard the call

And on foreign land I gave my all.

Now my grave you come to see

I died for our country to keep it free

Every teardrop you shed with pride

Knowing my love for my country is why I died.

That grand ole flag flies high and proud

Above a teary sovereign crowd

People have come from everywhere

With many stories and memories to share

Remember me and every other soldier out there

Remember us in your hearts and prayer

For every soldier that ever answered the call

Pray that God will bless us all!

God bless you--by carrie neighbors

1 JOHN 3:16
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life
for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

HOW I WILL BE REMEMBERED

HOW WILL I BE REMEMBERED?

How will I be remembered?
I wonder what I will be remembered for,
When life for me is over,
And I am standing at Heavens door.

My house, my car, and all I own,
Everything thats mine today,
Will not be mine to forever hold,
For it too, will someday pass away.

So what will I be remembered for,
When my life on earth is through?
If not for my possessions,
Then perhaps by the things I do!

The love we share, the God I praise,
The children that knew I cared,
These are the things I would like to be remembered for,
Please remember those times that were shared.

Take all my possessions and cast them away,
for they won't mean a thing,
Remember me for the good I have done,
And all the joy to others I could bring!

The child that I loved unconditionally,
The children that knew I cared,
The child who knew his life mattered,
Because of the time that we shared!

When I am gone and the winds of change,
Have blown down this lonely mile,
If the life of another was changed by me,
Then you can remember me with a smile!

MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE TO A SOLDIER

soldier

MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE

On Memorial Day we honor the fallen hero’s

Our country’s most brave, fearless, and courageous too

Our hero’s who died for our country’s freedom

Just people like me and you

A loved one in battle hoping to come home soon

A dad, a mom, someone’s daughter or son

The ones who paid the ultimate price

For they didn’t come home when the battle was done.

So today we place flowers on rows of stone

And give honor to those that are lost

We publicly display our private grief

As we absorb the full measure of freedoms cost.

Lost is the innocence of yesterday

As war penetrates this young generation

Pray that our country remembers our constitution

For that is what founded this great nation.

America the beautiful

My country so many heroes have died for

I am so proud to be called an American

Because of their sacrifice freedom shall ring forevermore!

WHY DO WE NEED THIS WAR?

Leavenworth Kansas Cemetary

WHY DO WE NEED WAR?

Our country remembers our fallen hero’s
Just one day a year
Then we go about our daily lives never again thinking
About their pain or fear

About the families they left behind or the dangers
They faced ahead
We go about each day and never think about the
Thousands that was wounded or dead.

How often do we remember the ones
from the years before?
How many times must soldiers suffer and die
Before we cry “No more war!”

Why must war be the answer for political or
Economic concern
With thousands lost before in Korea and Vietnam,
When will we learn!

Now thousands more are wounded and dead in a
Country called Iraq
How many more must be sent to war, never
To come back!

They say time heals all wounds, or at least
Allows us to loose sight
Of all of the thousands that we lost before in every
Previous fight!

So over and over we do it again, as each generation
Answers the call
Think of every generation’s sacrifice then question why
There has to be war at all!

WHAT MY NEIGHBORS SEE by carrie neighbors

WHAT MY NEIGHBORS SEE

When neighbors cast their eyes on me

I often wonder what they see.

A charming face, a crooked smile

Perhaps my clothes are last year’s style.

Do they really see the me?

That shines within my personality?

Do they see my eyes that twinkle?

Or are they counting each spot or wrinkle?

They can’t see me from within

But all can see just where I have been.

Words and actions are all a test

For others to see my worst or best!

The actions from my heart shall be

What others see from inside of me.

For each will judge me by my labors

Truth is friends you can’t fool your neighbors!

LET JESUS MAKE YOU STRONG! by carrie neighbors

When days are long and dreary

You feel you just can’t go on

Find new strength from Jesus

When his name you call upon!

Find Gladness in your soul

And love within your heart

Let Jesus shine within you

And your strength shall never part!

Radiate his joy to others

Rejoice in praise and song

Find your strength in Jesus

His joy shall make you strong!

….for the joy of the Lord is your strength!

Then he said to them, "Go, eat of the fat, drink of the sweet, and send portions to him who has nothing prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

GOD GIVES US BLESSED ASSURANCE

GRACE WE HAVE BLESSED ASSURANCE—by carrie neighbors

Through Christ we have blessed assurance

He authenticates our trust in Gods grace

Nearer to God we are drawn by faith

He strengthens us when tribulations we face.

He draws me in never against my will

For I am assured that God will not fail

Truly he stands behind every promise he’s made

Mans ships of doctrinal differences will never sail.

I shall unto others profess whats right

Holding fast Gods power to save and keep

Then God shall watch over me day and night

With eyes that shall never sleep.

Christ became like you and me

He authenticated his experience with mankind

To be more like us he became one of us

No greater assurance shall we find!

A GARAGE SALE BARGAIN poem by carrie neighbors

Garage Sale

THE BARGAIN---by carrie neighbors

Oh Lord my heart just skipped a beat

Its another yard sale sign!

I love to shop for all the treasures

A bargain soon will be mine!

Oh how I love to accumulate these

Possessions and treasures galore.

Who could pass up such a great bargain

That only made me want it more!

As I collect these worthless treasures

That add to all my clutter and mess

Am I overlooking more meaningful things?

Have I missed Gods true righteousness?

All the treasures I gather on earth

Will someday rust and decay

But the treasures I store up in heaven

Will never rot or be taken away.

God’s values and treasures are a bargain

Because they are given for free

Beautiful gifts that add meaning to life

There is no greater a bargain for me!

(Reference Matthew 6:20)
"But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;

A SOLDIER CAME HOME TODAY

SF

A SOLDIER CAME HOME TODAY---by carrie neighbors

A soldier is coming home today
From a land so very far away
He used each plan that he was taught
They say the battle was well fought.

The way is slow, the tears did flow
Because this soldier had to go.
The burden that was over there
Was more than one should have to bear.

He was brave, and well prepared
But not a single life was spared
Draped in flags, all alone
His name forever etched in stone

His face again we’ll never see
His blood shed for you and me
Fighting for a hidden truth
A war that took away his youth.

A soldier is coming home today
The ultimate price he had to pay
A life to save, the life he gave
A home thats now beyond the grave

He’s not gone, for beyond the dawn
His soul still goes a marching on
where he is, we cannot go
So our soldier guards us here below.

A soldier came home today
In a land so far away
Home to stay forever more
He's Just beyond that golden shore.

MY LORD CALMS MY STORM

MY LORD CALMS THE STORM--by carrei neighbors

As the storms of life surround me

I am anchored in your steadfast love

You know the answers I cannot see

You send your protection from up above!

I can turn and face the strongest wind

My power to sustain is within you

I know that peace is what you’ll send

Because only you Lord can carry me through.

And when the storm subsides once more

And I am standing at your feet

Peace will be mine forever more

Because there is no storm I can’t defeat!

My praises unto you shall echo on

You are the Prince that can calm my sea

And long after I am forgotten and gone

I pray my words will bring Praise unto thee.

(Reference Mark 4:37-39)
And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

WHAT TO PRAY FOR

WHAT TO PRAY FOR--by carrie neighbors

Pray for courage when in need

Pray for the power to succeed

Pray for tasks to equal your power

Pray for grace in your final hour

Pray God will guide the words you say

Thank God for the miracle of each day

Pray to serve others in all that you do,

And all that you’ve given will be given back unto you!

JAM 5:13
Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy?
Let him sing songs of praise.
Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray
over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.
And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the
Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so
that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and
effective.

HIS LIFE WAS A JOURNEY a remembrance poem

HIS LIFE WAS A JOURNEY--by carrie Neighbors

How could one person,
Have so very much to give,
How did he teach us the meaning of life,
When he himself only had so little time to live.

A steadfast love he possessed for the Lord,
He set the bar on serving Jesus name,
He filled the church with the lives he touched,
He loved all people just the same!

He was always there to help a friend,
For a friend truly was he,
Showing his faithfulness in his works,
His life was a gift of love and generosity.

We cannot know why a life so precious,
A life lived so well was ended,
But as the darkness of shadows fall,
We can rest assured that to heaven he has ascended.

I know that he was yours oh God,
On loan to us for only a short while,
But oh what a glorious gift he was,
So precious and true was his smile!

Into thy hands that cradle him now,
His journey on Earth now is through,
A life that was lived to the fullest down here,
Now in heaven and lifted up to you!

His life was a Journey on Earth
Today he celebrated his heavenly birth!

IN GOD WE HAVE HOPE poem by carrie neighbors

this sucks

GOD GIVES US HOPE---by carrie neighbors

Truly hope shall come in the darkness of despair

Like the unexpected joy from a breath of clean fresh air

It’s the joyful shout of triumph after a battle’s nearly lost

It’s the tireless belief in God no matter what the cost!

Hope is having faith after everything seems stripped away

That your tireless trust in God will bring strength into your day

Hope comes from deep within a blessed believers heart

It shall truly grow with love and within us never part

Hope comes from God and shall lift our hearts up high

Like the rainbow that he hung above a rainy sky

We can always trust in God through him hope is ours

His love is just as everlasting as the sky is filled with stars

(Reference Romans 8:16)
The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.

OUR PASTOR

OUR PASTOR------by carrie neighbors

Our pastor has practiced goodness
Every day of his life
With faith filled exuberance
He has seen us through trouble and strife

It would be impossible to count how many
People he has mentored here
God has truly blessed the ones
Who’s friendship he’s held dear.

He was always there to count on
When times were not so good
He taught us genuine kindness
And a true spirit of brotherhood.

“There is always a bigger picture”
Is something he would say
“And God still has a plan for us
And will guide us if we pray!”

We will never be able to replace him
No matter how hard we try
But truly we can make sure that
His legacy will never die

As long as in his honor
We practice kindness towards each other
And promise to be patient and wise
As we relate to one another

So today let us all pay homage
To the one that showed us salvations plan
Thank- God that we all had the blessing
Of sharing the life of this wonderful man!

MARRIAGE GAY OR STRAIGHT poem by carrie neighbors

WHAT MARRIAGE IS---By Carrie Neighbors

holding hands

WHAT MARRIAGE TRULY IS

Marriage is when two people begin a new start
Weaving together their lives with their heart
Two people joined together now and forever
A bond that man could tear apart never

A miracle of pleasure to last through the years
Sharing their joy, laughter and tears
Going forward together, all others forsake
A journey of love only two can take.

For what were two people
Has now become whole
And through the wings of a marriage
Love can enter the soul.

THE ANGEL OF DEATH poem by carrie neighbors

angel

THE ANGEL OF DEATH---by carrie neighbors

There is an Angel calling from high above

His song is pure and full of love

He calls each one to an unknown land

Then guides each with his gentle hand

He comes when every shadow falls

There is no escaping when he calls

His wings are open in full flight

He shall lead the way into the light

He knows which soul is glory bound

For it’s through him paradise is found

Though the body on earth may stay

It is with this Angel our soul flies away

Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.

ACCEPTANCE OF THE HARDSHIPS a poem by carrie neighbors

ACCEPTANCE---by carrie neighbors

Hush for just a moment

Be not hasty in your way

For God already made the light

That will guide you through this day

Accept his will, now hush be still

The circumstance is right

Though it maybe hardship

God has you in his sight.

Only eyes of faith can see

God has a greater plan

That on this road of hardship

You might help your fellow man.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
